Gather
We come together in worship and community, making room for people at every point in their faith journey.
Who we are
We are a Methodist community in the heart of New Brighton—gathering for worship, growing in Christ, and going out to love our neighbors.
Our mission
We come together in worship and community, making room for people at every point in their faith journey.
We grow in the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ through Scripture, prayer, worship, and life together.
We carry the love of Christ beyond the church walls through service, witness, and care for our neighbors.
Rooted in New Brighton
Our recorded history begins in homes, continues through several church families and buildings, and carries forward in a congregation committed to serving this community.
1033 Sixth Avenue, New Brighton, PA 15066After gathering in private homes, local Methodists organized and built the First Methodist Episcopal Church.
After outgrowing earlier buildings, the congregation moved into the church home that continues to serve New Brighton today.
New Brighton Methodist Church became a congregation of the Global Methodist Church, continuing its Wesleyan witness in the community.
Still gathering. Still growing. Still going.
Our published history
These are the histories preserved by New Brighton Methodist Church for the congregations represented on its history page.

1837
New Brighton First began as small groups meeting in private homes throughout the area. The growing congregation organized and built First Methodist Episcopal Church in 1837, then outgrew three more buildings before arriving at its present church home in 1903. On June 14, 2023, the congregation became New Brighton Methodist Church and joined the Global Methodist Church.

1842
Fifth Avenue's story began with the Methodist Protestant Mission in 1842. Its first home, remembered as the Little White Church, served the congregation for 20 years before fire destroyed it. A new church building on Fifth Avenue was dedicated in 1863.

1895
Grace organized in 1895 as the Second Methodist Episcopal Church of New Brighton. Its first services were held at Grace Mission on 13th Avenue. As the congregation grew, it moved into and remodeled a carriage shop on Third Avenue, then built a larger church that was dedicated in 1923.
Our identity
New Brighton Methodist Church is a congregation of the Global Methodist Church, grounded in Scripture and the historic Christian faith.
