For many, the dream of a happy home can become complicated when blending two families into one.The statistics are sobering: over 50% of U.S. families are now remarried or re-coupled, and two out of three of those marriages will end in divorce. Children in blended families are more likely to face emotional stress, feelings of divided loyalty, and struggles with identity. Parents often battle conflicting parenting styles, unresolved hurts from the past, and tension with former spouses.
The challenges don’t just affect marriages—they ripple into the lives of children, extended family, and even faith journeys. Many step-parents feel isolated and misunderstood, while kids wrestle silently with change they never asked for. And yet, despite these difficulties, blended families are one of the most underserved communities in the church.
Hope and Healing Are Possible with Blended Family Support
Blending a family isn’t just about combining households—it’s about uniting hearts under God’s design. And that takes intentionality, patience, and grace. That’s exactly why New Brighton Methodist Church is launching the Blended & Blessed Family Ministry this fall. It's our way to provide Blended family support to a culture that desperately needs it.
Starting Wednesday, September 10th and continuing every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month, these classes will offer a safe, understanding environment where blended families can learn, grow, and thrive together. We’ll talk about:
Navigating the unique challenges of step-parenting.
Building unity in a divided world.
Managing expectations with grace.
Strengthening your marriage as the foundation of your home.
Bringing Christ into the center of every relationship.
Our sessions will mix practical tools with biblical wisdom, so you walk away encouraged and equipped—not weighed down by guilt or frustration.
